A person who holds an endorsement as a professional administrator of a school may be employed by a school district as:

1. An assistant superintendent of schools;

2. A superintendent of schools;

3. An associate superintendent of schools;

4. A principal;

5. A vice principal;

6. A supervisor;

7. An administrative assistant; and/or

8. A supervisor or coordinator of:

1. A program of nursing;

2. A program of psychology as it is applied in a school;

3. A program of speech therapy;

4. A program of physical therapy;

5. A program of occupational therapy; or

6. Any other program area.

To receive an endorsement as an administrator of a school, applicant must:

1. Hold a master's degree; and

2. Hold a valid elementary, middle school/ junior high, secondary or special teaching license (excluding Business and Industry or Special Qualifications); and

3. 3. Submit to the department evidence of 3 years of teaching experience in Kindergarten through grade 12 in schools approved by the State; and

4. 4. Have completed at least 36 graduate semester credits in courses in the administration of a school including each of the following areas:

1. Administration and organization of a school;

2. Supervision of instruction;

3. Development of personnel;

4. Finances of a school;

5. The laws that apply to schools;

6. Curriculum;

7. Educational research;

8. Internship or field experience in school administration; and

9. Other courses considered to be part of an administrative program for educators.

NOTE: The requirements for an endorsement as an administrator of a school may not be fulfilled by independent study.
