Endorsement to Teach English as a Second Language

To receive an endorsement to teach English as a second language, a person must have:

  1. A valid elementary, middle school/junior high school, secondary or special teaching license (excluding Business and Industry and Special Qualifications); and

  2. Twelve (12) semester credits from any of the courses of study listed below:

  1. Methods and materials for teaching English as a Second language;

  2. Theories for the acquisition of a second language;

  3. Testing and evaluation of pupils studying English as a second language; or

  4. Developing a curriculum for pupils studying English as a second language.
