To receive an endorsement to teach dance, a person must

1. Hold an elementary, middle school/junior high, secondary or special teaching license (excluding Business and Industry and Special Qualifications license); and

2. Have completed:

1. A program for the teaching of dance education which has been approved by the Board; or

2. A combination of at least 16 semester credits in any of the following:

1. At least 2 semester credits in the fundamentals of dance, including, but not limited to:

2. Awareness of the body;

3. The basic principles of dance; or

4. The improvisation of dance;

3. At least 3 semester credits in the history and development of dance, including, but not limited to:

1. The history of dance;

2. The styles and techniques of dance; or

3. The care and prevention of injuries that occur during the performance of dance;

4. At least 3 semester credits in the kinesiology relating to the performance of dance, including, but not limited to:

1. Anatomy and physiology;

2. The anatomy and physiology of exercise for the performance of dance; or

3. The care and prevention of injuries that occur during the performance of dance;

5. At least 3 semester credits in the composition of dance, including, but not limited to:

1. An analysis of the rhythms relating to dance;

2. The spatial relationships involved in the performance of dance; or

3. The choreography of dance;

6. At least 3 semester credits in the methods of teaching dance; or

7. At least 2 semester credits in the techniques of dance in at least two of the following dance forms:

1. Ballet;

2. Modern;

3. Jazz; or

4. Tap.
