Comprehensive Major

 

Thirty-six ( 36) semester credits required for a major in Automotive Technology must include course work in each of the following:

  1. Automotive transmission and transaxle;

  2. Brakes;

  3. Electrical and electronic systems;

  4. Engine performance;

  5. Engine repair;

  6. Heating and air conditioning;

  7. Manual drive train and axles; and

  8. Suspension and steering.

 

Comprehensive Minor

 

Twenty-four ( 24) semester credits required for a minor in Automotive Technology must include course work in each of the following areas:

  1. Brakes;

  2. Electrical and electronic systems;

  3. Engine performance; and

  4. Suspension and steering.

Note:   In addition to the required coursework required, if you are not already certified, you must become certified by the National Institute for Automotive Excellence within 3 years from the date of issuance of the Automotive Service Technology endorsement as:

  1. A master automobile technician; or

  2. An automobile technician in the following areas:

  1. Brakes;

  2. Electrical and electronic systems;

  3. Engine performance; and

  4. Suspension and steering.
